Is Milk Racist? Maybe the market thinks so...

Is milk racist?

It's white.  And, milks' features benefit whites more than blacks.

Samantha Diaz, a staff writer for the college paper The Daily 49er, wrote an op-ed claiming the milk is a symbol of racism and white nationalism this past March.

Here is a summary of the article.  Is Milk Racist?

So that got me thinking.  Does Trump drink milk?

I did a little research and found out, yes indeed, Trump drinks milk. So it must be racist!

So then I looked up what has happened to milk futures since the article came out.  Yes ,the price of milk has dropped since the article.

Digging further I looked at the chart (above) for Dean Foods.  They derive a good deal of their revenue  and profits from milk and butter sales - and they are the largest public dairy in the country.

What did I find out?  Dean's stock price has dropped 40% since March.

So is milk racist?  I don't know, markets are complex.  Yet, I think the market is telling us something about milk.  Maybe we should listen.

And, what does this mean for Wisconsin?  Statistically, Wisconsin is a  huge milk producer and one of the toughest states for blacks to live.  Is there a link? Maybe milk is racist.

Disclosure:  I do not drink milk.  But I love cheese.
